What a wonderful afternoon on Saturday for our ACGC Theatre Leadership Committee (TLC)! Our students had the opportunity to attend the afternoon performance of Guys and Dolls at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, and it was an unforgettable experience.
The students enjoyed a great meal together before the show, and from the moment the curtain rose they were completely captivated. The incredible singing, energetic dancing, colorful costumes, and vibrant storytelling had them smiling, cheering, and leaning forward in their seats the entire time. Hearing them say things like “This is so much better than I expected!” and “We should do this show!” was the best part of the day.
I loved watching the sparkles in their eyes and the smiles on their faces as they experienced such a high-quality production. Theatre like this inspires the next generation of performers, designers, and leaders.
A huge thank you to Thomas Rosengren, Alex Flipovitch and Mila Hanson for helping make the trip possible, and I’m especially proud of our amazing theatre leaders—Quinn Eisenbacher, Gavin Garcia, Lizzy Nordin, Juliana Schmidt, Addison Barnes, Cole Miron, Makaylen Carlson, Reese Klinger, Natalie Barnes, Lauran Arndt, and the students who joined us to explore TLC next year.
And in true Minnesota fashion, we were grateful the afternoon performance allowed everyone to get home safely before the incoming blizzard!
What a joyful day of theatre, learning, and inspiration. The future of ACGC Theatre is bright!

“Focus on the positive” is a pretty common piece of advice. Sure, there are things that may not be perfect, but focusing too much on what isn’t going well amplifies the negative and often results in good things getting missed. That’s one reason why Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is used in schools to not only improve the social, emotional, and academic outcomes for students, but also to create a strong sense of community built on doing the right thing.
